This is just a disclaimer….while some of these poems may be on the bleak side I assure you I am most interested in life and embrace it entirely. I need a little time to embrace the snow that’s falling outside

If you can be a pal to yourself
those worthy will likely follow.
Self pity and anger do not lend a hand
So in it, do not wallow.
Sure as seasons come and go
Some friends pass through, quick and brief
Touching your life forever
Helping you in a time of grief.
The one who was there as a child
Tested through stages of life, distance, and time
Never quite leaving your heart
The mainstay of your mind.

There was a lady from Nantucket
Whose husband bought her a mop and bucket
He thought he was brill
But she gave him THE CHILL
Now he wears on his crown
The said bucket
Valentine’s Day
Don’t let not having a significant other
stop you from celebrating Valentine’s Day.
Family and friends are there awaiting
for you to send your love their way.
Chocolates and candy I will devour
Perhaps a glass of wine too.
Embracing this day of adulation.
Proclaiming my undying love for you.

From the moment I was born
It seemed I was destined to be
The one who found themselves
On the outside looking in.
The only girl in a family of boys
In a house which put greater value in males
Indeed I was the one
On the outside looking in.
Then in school it was impossible to win.
Whether I was fat or whether I was thin
I was the one
On the outside looking in.
I was picked last to play sports
Too shy to make a friend.
Too quiet to be noticed.
Put me on the outside looking in.
Things happened to me along the way
It took some of my hearing away.
I have one foot in each the deaf and hearing worlds
But I’m still on the outside looking in.
When I don’t want to be alone.
I go out and sit in a coffee shop or movie theatre.
It’s nice to observe others having a life.
Even if it puts me on the outside looking in.
Although it is quite a lonely place to be
I am who I am, I have faith in ME.
I am setting out to carve my own niche.
So I will no longer be on the outside looking in.
Don’t let not having a significant other
stop you from celebrating Valentine’s Day.
Family and friends are there awaiting
for you to send your love their way.

Perhaps a glass of wine too.

The sound like that of a trumpet
To some is peaceful snoring.
But to millions that listen,
It is simply boring.
Some serenade a symphony,
Others are “hitting the knots”
As though calmly “sawing wood”
Through an alpenstock.
People snore in all positions
While sitting or on their back.
But it’s worse with heavy eating
Just before they hit the sack.
Some have habits and conditions
That are blamed for heavy snoring.
But the biggest cause of all
Is when adenoids start boiling.
Most back snorers quit
When you get them on their sides.
But the one who does the poking
Is often criticized.
Remember if you are the one
That snores an interlude
So did the schnausals of the Romans
And the Anglo-saxons too.
If there’s a snorer in your life
Who doesn’t respond to tricks,
The alternative left open
Is to apply a few soft kicks.
Most back snorers are not aware of it
When they doze off peacefully,
So the best thing that can happen
Is that families snore in harmony.
